I'm reading and studying about the revolutionary war and what was happening in America at this time.
As the colonies were become less enfranchised with England, each had there reasons for Independence. Following the Boston "tea party" Britain passed the Intolerable or Coercive Acts. They close the harbor until the destroyed tea was paid for. They also annulled the Charter of Massachusetts. Basically they revoked there rights as Englishmen (what the government giveth as a right the government taketh away as a right). Then the monarchy government passed a law making the people board the British soldiers at there own expense with little compensation. They also passed the Quebec act which transferred lands to Quebec that was intended for the colonies. In the south. They had increasing debt burdens and taxes.
At the same time all of this was happening the north and south disagreed completely on the status of slavery in the colonies. Despite there tensions about slavery, the colonies united and made an alliance against the crown. Both clergy men and individuals joined together to fight for there civil liberties and religious liberties. They knew that these 2 things are entwined and coexist together. If you have one you have the other. John Witherspoon was a clergyman from New Jersey joined in the cause of freedom. He said "there is not a single instance in history in which civil liberty was lost and religious liberty preserved entire."
I am a strongly religious person. I strive to live a christian life. I am very aware of the wretched women that I am, but I continually press forward in the path of righteousness. I believe that this nation was created so that there could be a place for truth and principles to be restored. A place where all would have freedom to choose and work out there own eternal rewards. I shout from the roof tops for my neighbors to have protection to choose what they may, and I ask for them to do the same for me.
Right now President Obama is calling on churches to stand with him and to promote his agenda. If the churches partner with the state they will be rewarded financially from the government with the "Greening" of the churches. Yesterday I watched footage of Nancy Pelosi telling preachers to preach her platform at there pulpits and claim that it is the gospel. Why is the leader of the house taking the role of God and telling preachers what should be taught? Is this separation of church and state?
As John Witherspoon stated, "there is not a single instance in history in which civil liberty was lost and religious liberty preserved entire." I love this nation because my own church was restored here because of the freedom of speech and religion. I do not want a government that tells churches how they should interpret or preach the gospels. To all my loved ones, neighbors, friends and family. Please know that this is happening. All of our civil liberties and religious liberties are under attack.
I refer you to the White House web page. Type in Faith based programs in the search box. Read the Presidents policy and goals he wants to accomplish through this group. Ask yourself, do you agree with this, and do you think the people he has chosen on his counsel represent all faiths and there beliefs?
I would like to thank the authors of A Patriots History of the United States for the information I share with you today. I give all credit to them and thank God that they have presented this book as a tool in my learning.

Important Legislation you need to know as a parent
The Federal Fat Police: Bill Would Require Government to Track Body Mass of American Children

(CNSNews.com) - A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are.
States receiving federal grants provided for in the bill would be required to annually track the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. The grant-receiving states would be required to mandate that all health care providers in the state determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis.
The Healthy Choices Act--introduced by Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee--would establish and fund a wide range of programs and regulations aimed at reducing obesity rates by such means as putting nutritional labels on the front of food products, subsidizing businesses that provide fresh fruits and vegetables, and collecting BMI measurements of patients and counseling those that are overweight or obese.
Section 101 of the bill amends the Public Health Services Act by stating that health care providers must record the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. "The provision relates to all children in states that accept grants under the bill," a spokesperson for Rep. Kind told CNSNews.com. "However, it is important to note that no one is forced to come in for a doctor’s visit to get their BMI tested. BMI will be taken at times when the child makes an otherwise scheduled doctor’s visit."
BMI is calculated by taking one’s weight in pounds and height in inches, multiplying that number by one’s height in inches and then multiplying that number by 703. Any number over 24 is considered overweight, with higher numbers resulting in a diagnosis of obese (BMI = [weight / (height x height)] x 703).
To pay for implementing BMI data gathering, Sec. 102 of the bill states that the federal government will give grants to states that meet certain criteria, including having “the capacity to store basic demographic information (including date of birth, gender and geographic area of residence), height, weight, and immunization data for each resident of the state.”
The grants also will pay for personnel and equipment necessary to measure patients’ BMI.
The grants also require that if a child’s BMI is greater than the 95th percentile for the child’s age and gender, the state will provide “information on how to lower BMI and information on state and local obesity prevention programs.”
Rep. Kinder's spokesperson said that any data used to generate a report on the BMI data collected would not include patients’ names.
The bill also requires HHS to share with Congress and other government officials, including the secretaries of education and agriculture, its analysis of the BMI data collected not more than one year after it gathers all of the data from states.
This analysis, the bill states, would attempt to identify obesity trends in regions of the United States and how those trends vary according to gender and socioeconomic status--although the bill does not spell out how socioeconomic status of patients would be determined.
On May 6, the bill was referred to the House subcommittee on Highways and Transit.
Co-sponsors of the bill are Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.), Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) and Gregorio Sablan (D-Mich.)
At a press conference last week to announce the introduction of the bill, Kind emphasized it would help “busy American families.”
“Making the healthy choice the easy choice for our families is essential to ensuring our quality of life,” Kind said. “I am pleased to work on legislation that helps provide the opportunities that meet the needs of busy American families.”

My Take on The Healthy Choices Act
Please read my prior post before this one
Today is a hard day. And the information I have become aware of makes me want to run and hide. But when something is not right I must speak out.
When our children are sick we take them to the doctor. The first thing Doctors and nurses do is weigh and measure our children and take there temperature? This is to help them identify and diagnose any abnormalities or something that may alert them to what may be wrong with our child. If there is a noticeable or alarming change they proceed with further testing. This is standard procedure and is why doctors take and keep medical history's. It is a vital part of patient care. As a parent I would never want to refuse my child of this basic tool to help insure there health.
This month new legislation has been presented to the floor that violates patient /doctor confidentiality. It makes me hesitant to take my child to the doctor and to have there height and weight taken. My child's private information will be required by law to be submitted to the government each time they are weighed by the doctor. The only way they don't get the information is if I don't take my children to the doctor and I refuse to allow the doctor to weigh and measure them. Let me ask myself, am I willing to not take my children to the doctor in time a of need or have them weighed as a basic tool for there health history and to help diagnose any problems just so I can protect privacy and freedom? Probably not. Our government officials know this. I will be forced to give this information to the government if I want my child to be seen by a doctor. Let me add that Doctors will not be willing to treat a child if they can not obtain all the information they need to properly diagnose them. It is a matter of liability for them. This is not my definition of freedom. Is it yours? Are we as parents being forced to hand over our children's rights to privacy for anyone else's power grab?
What is your rights to privacy and freedom? What does this bill really allow? The government believes that it is there responsibility to determine when and how my children should be raised. They have determined that I am a "busy American family" (or stupid) to do it myself and they know best.
The first lady has taken it upon herself to champion the cause of childhood obesity. This is a noble endeavor and important but, she has crossed the line of propriety. May I ask when did Michelle Obama become the mother of my children and how does she determine what is best for them?
I would like to ask her why she believes that she is entitled to my child's information. I would like to ask her what will be done with that information when it is received and why it is any of her business to be part of a private sensitive family matters.
My prediction and gut tells me that the information collected will be used to regulate what is being presented to me. What options will I have as a parent. We I be given all the choices and information or just the ones deemed appropriate by some regulator. Right now the government is also trying to force restaurants to only offer what they deem as correct choices in there industry. These companies are not allowed to choose how and what they will advertise in order to grow there business and entice people to be there patrons. If someone has a great idea to advance there business and it does not fall under the lines of the government regulation they will be punished. How may you ask will they be punished. By grants and the endorsement of there competition. This leads to business closing the doors because they can not compete if they do not comply. I am against this type of information collecting. It is intrusive and inappropriate. The door is being opened for total control by the government and they are exploiting American Families and Buisnesses to do it.

N-400 Application for Naturalization
Part 10
Question 9. Have you ever been a member of or in any way associated (either directly or indirectly) with:
a. The Communist party?
b. Any other totalitarian party?
c. Terrorist organization?
Answer to all NO!
As I continue to fill out my application for Naturalization I am faced with questions that may seem odd to some. Why would these questions be on this form? There have been a few times in history when these types of ideologies have crept into the framework of this nation. I see these questions as a warning to all that enter of what liberty means to this nation. Could I even go as far to suggest that the person who wrote this form knew what could not be allowed to enter this land. Communism, totalitarianism, and terrorism inhibit and distinguish all chances of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
All immigrants are asked these questions. Now America ask yourselves, Are you a member of or in any way associated (either directly or indirectly ) with these types of groups? It might surprise you. Are you aware of the groups your school board members are participating in? Who is teaching your children? Who has input on the curriculum being taught? Are you subject to a union that does not hold the same values as you? Does your city council members affiliate with questionable political groups and accept financial support form them for there campaigns? Who are our elected officials and who is on there staff?
What type of policies and causes are being advocated in this nation?
If any leader or group can pass the litmus test of the Constitution and they promote liberty, then stand with them and let your voice be heard. If not denounce them and turn away from them. Can our leaders answer and pass the questions found on form N-400 Application for Naturalization, Part 10 question 9? If they can't they must explain, and if they fail to explain we should not elect them to be our trusted leaders.

Today I am starting my Blog.
I am in the final process of becoming an American Citizen. I have the last immigration application on my desk. My name is on it. I have contemplated this decision for some time now, and have asked myself why would I want to do this?
I grew up 100 km North from the United States of Americas border. Yes I am Canadian. This is where I started "Becoming Marnie". I love my country. As Canadian children we studied and were taught of Columbus and the early years that followed as this continent was established and developed. You see, our early history and the United States history is shared. Both countries have always been present in my mind. But as time has passed in my life I have struggled to keep the facts and history present in my mind and heart. It is true that when you stop using and diligently investing in continual education, the information you once had tends to slip somewhere deep in your brain until one day you need to recall something and alas, it is gone or appears to be gone. I can't extrapolate the knowledge I know I once had. So now I find my self as a infant sponge. I am reading and studying and reintroducing information into my mind. I am trying to absorb anything I can so, I can have the proper discernment to sort through the information that I need to make correct choices in my life. This brings me to today.
I have now almost lived longer in America than I have Canada. I am married to a wonderful, hardworking, self reliant and spiritual man who is an American. My two sons have been born on the soil of the United States of America. My life, is here. Does that take away from the love of a country that has protected me and sheltered me and helped educated me? My answer is no.
I live in the United States and I hold deep in my heart and respect the Constitution that binds this nation together and protects the rights of it's citizens. I believe this country and many of it's citizens, for some reason or another have forgotten the purpose of America and the succor this great nation offers them. Therefore, I have begun to awake and increase my knowledge of this country and where it is heading. The United States of America must be protected and I am willing to do that. I find that I have no other choice but to be a voice and take a stand for this nation. It is my duty to stand as protector for the sake of my posterity and family. This may be the last place where Freedom rings and I will not let that bell be silent on my watch. The full force of my voice can not be heard unless I am able to vote. I must be a citizen to do this.
In the next few months and years, I will use this platform to share what I have learned and why it strengthens my love of this nation. I do not know how long it will take until I will stand at my own public oath ceremony. I know that day will come and I will say a loving tearful farewell to my homeland and claim a new home where I will finish "Becoming Marnie".
